No Puedo, I'm Sorry

Playwright: Ariel Cipolla

Director: Aaron Munoz
Scenic Designer: Ciera Keller

No Puedo, I'm Sorry is a short play that shows the story of Olivia and Nathan. Olivia is a Cuban American in her mid-20s that is passionate about her culture and about Miami. Nathan is a music major college student who just moved down from Illinois. Throughout the play these two connect through music and grow a relationship. When reading this play the question is asked: What do people have to give up when trying to connect? I was one of the concept scenic designers for this play. My role was to create a design to be displayed during the play reading.

Sketches

To start off the process, I developed sketches of stage layouts and arrangements to fit both worlds of the two main characters. I then thought about how to show connection between the two characters in the middle of the stage.

Renderings

These are the final renderings for the conceptual set. I got the opportunity to use Procreate for the first time for this show.

Reflection Work

After completing No Puedo, I reflected on my work and did some updated design work. I look at color changes and how to make a better perspective rendering.
